Zenless Zone Zero is a free-to-play game with gacha mechanics. That means the vast majority of characters are obtained as random rewards via “pulls” or “wishes.” It’s why you need to have luck on your side. Alternatively, you could spend some time on various “dummy accounts” until you get what you need. Here’s our Zenless Zone Zero reroll guide to help you with this process.
Zenless Zone Zero reroll guide – How to make a reroll account to get 5-star characters
In free-to-play gacha games, the term “rerolling” refers to creating a new account and going through the campaign until you’re able to obtain high-tier characters via pulls/wishes. Ideally, you should avoid spending any money at all, only progressing further if you get the rewards that you really want. Overall, the Zenless Zone Zero reroll process should take you less than an hour to complete, and we’ve got all the details for you right here.
Creating dummy accounts for rerolling
At the Zenless Zone Zero main menu, you should see the “Register” button. Click it to set up your account:
- Since it’s unlikely that you’ll get what you need on your first few attempts, we recommend creating a dummy Gmail account. Use this email address when you register your Zenless Zone Zero account.
- Send the verification code to the email address.
- Input the verification code and enter a password.
If you need to reroll later on, it’s best to just add numbers at the end of each new dummy email address that you create. It makes everything easier to remember.
Speeding up the process: The skip button and character levels
Here are a few tips to help speed up the Zenless Zone Zero reroll process:
- Skip all dialogue – If you see the “Menu” button in the upper-right corner of the screen, you can click on that and select the “Skip” option. Barring a few cutscenes, you should be able to skip all the dialogue. Note that you can replay scenes and conversations later via the Video Archive option in the Random Play store.
- Level up the default characters – You have to complete several combat encounters. Ideally, you should level up the default characters–i.e. Nicole, Anby, and Billy. The faster they can eliminate all foes, the faster you’ll reach the point where you’d be able to do your initial pulls.
Unlocking the Signal Shop and avoiding pulling… for now
After the first mission, you’re asked to speak to General Chop and Susie. This unlocks the Signal Shop menu, which is where you’ll find the gacha banners and premium currency exchange.
If you check your in-game mailbox, you’ll have enough Master Tape currency for a couple of 10-pulls in the standard banner. It’s up to you if you want to try this now, but we suggest holding off for a while.
Taking a picture of a cat and unlocking events
Continue the campaign by finishing General Chop’s and Susie’s commissions (i.e. a combat commission and exploration commission). This is followed by “The Proxy and the Hare” story commission, which you should finish in its entirety. Here are the next steps:
- Follow Wise’s instructions by talking to more NPCs on Sixth Street.
- Eventually, Wise tells you about a cat in an alley. Go to the location to unlock the Camera gadget.
- Hold the “F” key to select the Camera gadget and take a photo of Wise and the cat. This unlocks the available events.
- Unlocking events is ideal since you receive even more currency for gacha pulls.
How to get more Master Tape, Encrypted Master Tape, and Polychrome
These are the currencies that you need if you want to reroll in Zenless Zone Zero:
- Master Tape – Used to pull for characters in the standard banner.
- Encrypted Master Tape – Used to pull for characters in the limited-time banner.
- Polychrome – Can be exchanged for Master Tape or Encrypted Master Tape via the Signal Shop – Master Tape Exchange tab.
Now, we need to prepare for the gacha by getting all the currencies from various sources:
- Event: Cunning Generosity – 10x Master Tape
- Event: New City Visitor’s Passport – 1x Master Tape (Day 1 login)
- Event: Road to Proxy Greatness – 10x Master Tape and 10x Boopon (Inter-Knot level 5)
- Inter-Knot Levels: 20xx Polychrome and 2x Master Tape (upon reaching at least level 8)
- In-game Mail: Thank You Gift – 1,600x Polychrome
- In-game Mail: Global Pre-registration Milestone Reward – 20x Master Tape, 5x Boopon, 30,000x Denny, and free Corin character
- Achievements – Be sure to click the “Claim All” button in the Achievements screen to receive a bunch of Polychrome.
Master Tape and 5-star/S-tier characters from the standard banner
There are two kinds of wish/gacha banners in Zenless Zone Zero’s Signal Shop. There’s the standard banner that’s always available, and a limited-time banner that changes every three weeks or so. We recommend pulling for standard banner characters first due to the following reasons:
- There’s a promotional discount where your first five 10-pulls only cost 8x Master Tape.
- Within 50 pulls, you’re guaranteed a random 5-star/S-rank character. These include Grace, Rina, Koleda, Nekomiya, Soldier 11, and Lycaon.
- If you did the aforementioned steps, you should have around 40x Master Tape. With the promotional discount, this is enough to guarantee a random 5-star at 50 pulls or less.
- Pulls net you Residual Signal and Fading Signal. These currencies can be used in the Signal Shop to purchase Encrypted Master Tape and/or Master Tape.
Pulling for Ellen and getting Encrypted Master Tape (limited-time banner)
After getting your 5-star character from the standard banner, make sure to exchange your Residual Signal and Fading Signal for Encrypted Master Tapes. Then, check the Mellow Waveride limited-time banner and do a 10-pull. If you don’t obtain Ellen, you can exchange your remaining Polychromes to gain additional Encrypted Master Tapes.
If all goes well, you should have one of the best characters in the game. If things don’t pan out, just make another dummy account and repeat the reroll process.
