For a few years now, Epic’s preferred style of island makeover has been to remodel a whole region rather than smaller changes all over the map, and that continues this season, with the south-central portion of the map getting totally overhauled to reflect the season’s dieselpunk theme. Check it out for yourself in our Fortnite map changes in Chapter 5 Season 3 guide.

Fortnite loves a Marvel crossover, and another is hitting the battle pass–albeit later in the season. That’s right, the Chapter 5 Season 3 midseason skin is Magneto, one of the most infamous villains in all of Marvel’s illustrious catalog. Look for his suite of cosmetics to unlock in a few weeks alongside some in-game challenges that will net you everything you can ask for.

Modding cars is getting much deeper in Chapter 5 Season 3–how fitting, right? This season, you’ll find six mods that can be thrown onto your vehicles, including the return of Cow Catchers and Chonker’s Off-Road Tires, as well as four new ones that can fit your vehicle for the sandy apocalypse ahead. you can even equip multiple mods, so long as they don’t take up the same slot, as seen below.

The complete list of vehicle mods includes:

  • Machine Gun Turret (roof slot)
  • Grenade Launcher Turret (roof slot)
  • Spiked Bumber (front bumper slot)
  • Cow Catcher (front bumper slot)
  • Bulletproof Tires (tires slot)
  • Chonker’s Off-Road Tires (tires slot)

Mods are acquired by hitting a Vehicle Mod Box and, other than the bulletproof tires, they have their own health pools, just like car bodies themselves, so you’ll want to manage your post-apocalyptic swag-wagon as needed. You can hit Repair Boxes to fix up your ride, or find an unvaulted Repair Torch if you prefer.

Gas stations have morphed into service stations, which now includes both fuel and a health replenishment for your vehicle.

You’ll also find Nitro Barrels lying around the island, which give your vehicle a speed increase, ramming power, better gas mileage, and buffs to mods.

You can even use the barrels on foot and enjoy buffs such as increased stamina and speed, bashing power (not unlike the riot shield), faster reloading, and fall damage immunity.

As for SUVs, they can now be cosmetically customized much like sports cars. Look for new car bodies in the shop that will work with SUVs, including the new Behemoth that’s there for the launch of the season.

The brand-new War Bus is a late-game must-have that drops into the map much like the floating island of recent seasons. Claim it for yourself to gain an advantage over enemies who may cower in fear of your beastly ride–or ego-challenge you to claim it themselves.

The War Bus is equipped with an EMP pulse and two cannons, making it much more than a magic school bus.

NPC crews of Wasteland Warriors will also roam the island in their own weapons of fast destruction, and when you defeat them, you’ll gain a bevy of rewards including a modded car with infinite Nitro, a Mythic weapon, and a Medallion.
